Hon'ble Mr. Justice Deepak Roshan

Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi;

Mr. Justice Deepak Roshan was born on 12.12.1967 at Ranchi. Coming from a family of legal luminaries, his maternal grandfather, Late Bahagwati Kr. Sinha was Principal of Patna Law College, Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi and also a member of Bihar State Law Commission. His father Late Keshav Nandan Prasad, was a Senior Advocate of High Court of Jharkhand and an expert in Corporate and Labour Laws.

Mr. Deepak Roshan J, after schooling from Ranchi, did his graduation from University of Delhi and LL.B from the prestigious Sir L. A. Shah Law College, Ahmadabad, Gujarat University and then he joined the bar in the Ranchi Bench of Patna High Court on 14.09.1995.

He had a distinguished career as an advocate so far as he was the Central Government Counsel from August’ 2004 till August’ 2009. He was Senior Standing Counsel of the Income Tax Department in the Jharkhand High Court, since February’2009 and was also the Senior Standing Counsel, Customs, Central Excise & Service Tax Department in the High Court of Jharkhand, since November’2011 till the time of his elevation.

Apart from his professional dominance in the field of taxation and other Commercial Laws, he represented many other institutions and organizations, such as Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization, Ministry of Coal, Government of India, from November’2005 till 2010, Coal Mines Labour Welfare Organization, Ministry of Coal, Government of India from 2007 till 2014, and worked as an empanelled Counsel for Bihar Intermediate Education Council, NHAI & Jharkhand Academic Council and also PSBs i.e. Punjab National Bank, Bank of India & IDBI. He was also the retained counsel for Bihar State Co-operative Milk Producers’ Federation, Patna from 2001 till 2007.

He has been appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand on 11.02.2019, and took oath as permanent Judge of High Court of Jharkhand on 15.09.2020.
